Solving issues with Xen and multipathd on SLES11 SP3

I had to configure an OpenStack Compute node using Xen on SLES11 SP3. The system behaved strangely. /var/log/messages had a lot of failures reported by multipathd.

Nov 23 03:43:36 xxx multipathd: tapdeva: add missing path
Nov 23 03:43:36 xxx multipathd: tapdeva: failed to get path uid
Nov 23 03:43:36 xxx multipathd: tapdevb: add missing path
Nov 23 03:43:36 xxx multipathd: tapdevb: failed to get path uid
Nov 23 03:43:36 xxx multipathd: tapdevc: add missing path
Nov 23 03:43:36 xxx multipathd: tapdevc: failed to get path uid

Adding the following lines to /etc/multipath.conf solved the issue for me.

blacklist {
    devnode "^tapdev*"
}
